So, it’s taken a few days for it to happen but my new (to me) 2000 EX Coupe is finally here.

I went down to South Jersey this afternoon and picked it up. Drove amazing on the 60 plus mile trip back north. Seventeen dollars filled the tank from less than a quarter full, so that’s great since the twenty-three cent gas increase should be here in a few days.

I had forgotten just how much glass the Civic of this generation had. Some window tint is going to be in order soon. Only thing the car will need is a radio. It has the stock Honda CD deck, but it needs the security code and it doesn’t have an AUX jack. Crutchfield will fix this for me in the morning.

Some pics from this afternoon in my driveway:

Incredible that a stock Honda Civic has become a rare sight to see.

Nice find!

Looks super clean man. I still love the looks of the 99-2000 Civics and the D16Y8 is a great little motor.

Funny that you’re replacing the headunit because of the security code. I used that as the excuse to replace mine as well, plus I’ve gave me room for an “I heart my Honda” stricker. It’s actually pretty easy so find those codes though. If you’re lucky it’s written in the owners manual. That’s where it was in my 97 Accord and 01 Civic coupe.

Pro tip you can use adhesive foam tape, like for blocking up door jams, to make those giant cup holders useful. Anothig I loved about this car was the hoax controls right next to your hand. Always easy to find.

Mine is pretty stock. It still looks pretty good to me for a 96 with 240k miles on it. The interior is the cleanest part of the car. It wouldn’t take much to get it back to showroom stock. It has a manifold back stainless exhaust, but has a second resonator to alleviate fart caniness. Don’t laugh too hard at the rims, lol. I got the brand new rims and Toyos as a closeout package for less than just new tires. The cool thing about 13" rims is that you can get really nice tires for cheap. The bad thing is that they are 13" rims. I’m thinking about going to a 15" steelie with no hubcap. I was going to do all the brakes this weekend, but as you can see the weather did not cooperate.

Very nice man. Other people don’t believe me that there are still good Civics out there. I just bought one about a month and a half ago. This is my third sixth gen and might buy a fifth gen hatch that’s been molested and turn it back to a respectable auto.
